That being said, a co-worker and I carpool to work. We both live pretty much on South Glebe Rd. We work on North Glebe Rd. Our office is only about 6 miles away but it takes us approximately 20 min to get to work (sometimes longer if there is construction). We've begun trying out some different routes to work. It sounds ridiculous, but sometimes going a longer distance to get somewhere actually takes less time. This morning Jenell was a bit late picking me up for work (around 8:15). We arrived at our office building at 9:10. Please view the attached map:
Follow with the below color codes:
Pink: Shortest distance to work
Green: the way we were trying to go to work
Yellow: The little detour to work today...oops!
Important Lessons learned:
1) 395N does indeed suck in the morning
2) There is a difference between Route 27 and 110
3) There is a difference between the RIGHT and LEFT hand lanes
4) Jenell needs to learn which side is the right, and which is the left so we can get off on our exit!
5) The round-about next to Memorial Bridge is not a round-about in the morning- you MUST cross the bridge
6) The Lincoln Memorial is pretty at 8:45am
Yes, I realize this is shaky, I was convulsively laughing while taking it!
7) Poodles can have Mohawks
8) There is no traffic leaving DC in the morning
and don't forget... even when you're lost, you can take time to help people. Had we not stopped off at a bakery for breakfast we would not have been able to help a poor New Jersey-ite with directions...oh the Irony!
