Or as I like to call it, Old San Juan. When MK and I arrived in Old San Juan, I was giddy. The weather was perfect, sunny with a slight breeze. We found a parking spot (a feat in this area) and began wandering around. You're struck by the old Spanish/Colonial feel of the buildings, but more astounded that half of them are simply facades. If you peak inside from the blue brick paths of the outside, their are full grown trees inside where homes used to be! Coming from a place where real estate is prime, we were reeling at the thought of buying a place and having a get away, "Think of how much this probably costs! And it's on a sunny island!" {sigh}.
After finding a little restaurant that was supposed to be good (false) we began wandering, into shops, window shopping and making our way to the Old Fort. When we made it, we took our personal guided tour wandering up and down stone block steps, down to the Ocean and into little look out posts. On our last day we did the route somewhat again, but spent time at the Castillo, meandering and sharing a field with dozens of HUGE iguanas sunbathing. Above all, it's an amazing feeling to be on an island that doesn't give a #%*! about time. True, the British part of me was getting a bit anxious, but you throw it off and just enjoy la pura vida.
