A Veteran in the Woods

[gallery type="square" ids="4783,4784,4785"]

I survived the Oregon Washington trail.  I was really excited to have Veteran's Day off this year, and it was made better by the fact that MK took the day off too! We'd been talking about biking for ages, so finally packed up some gear, rented bikes and headed on the GW parkway trail.

It's an interesting ride; in the span of a few miles you cover city, marshland, waterway, an airport, dense forest (where I saw a camped-out Vet petitioning against WWII (sad). It's full of runners, walkers, walk-runners, fellow bikers and occasionally some roller blades, but we don't like to mention those.

We took a break and enjoyed the watching the planes land from Gravely Point and as we were about to continue on a huge storm began brewing. We raced back to Old Town to drop off our bikes and we wandered around the Torpedo Factory while we waiting for things to calm down. We then did a bit of grocery shopping and grabbed dinner before getting ready for the next day.

Yeah, it's sad how quickly a great day can end. Back tot he grind stone.
